Kalee Bly Choiniere (art alias Barely Awake) is a traveling artist- a large-scale painter, muralist, designer, and writer originally from Providence, RI. A self-taught painter, she bridges her inner world with the outer through bright, whimsical imagery. She is best known for her psychedelic line-work, double-eyed characters, and signature dripping flowers.
At the heart of all I create, is inspiration drawn from the expansiveness and vibrancy of the natural world. I create large-scale murals and paintings using acrylic paint to explore how emotions and movement can be translated through color and patterns to transform shared spaces into immersive, meditative experiences.
I am most known for my flowing line-work that pours from colorful, dripping flowers; I aim to capture the energy of growth, change, and interconnection found in nature. My paintings are designed to bring uplifting, contemplative energy, encouraging moments of introspection while fostering a playful, tender connection to the inner world and to one another.
